Artifiical Intelligence (AI) in being deployed in dentistry for both clinical and non-clinical applications. Major DSOs and insurers are employing AI to streamline their administrative funstions and review dental imaging. The latest AI software programs allow immediate enhancement of X-ray images and uncover many more pathologies than the unaided human eye. Course describes how machione learning trains image enhancement programs to diagnose and generate treatment plans independent of a human clinician. AI provides readily approachable and understandable visual presentations to engage and motivate patients to complete treatment, but insurers are utilizing AI programs to review images and adjudicate claims processing. Clinicians need to know the pros and cons of deploying AI programs in their practices as well as recognizing potential liabilities and increasingly complex interactions with insurance companies that are employing AI to limit benefits in the face of large AI generated treatment plans.
