California Dental Board NEW 2023 CE Requirements
The dental Board of California has updated its CE requirements for license renewal. Dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants must now take new CE courses and an updated version of existing CE course.
The New 2023 Schedule II Prescribing CE Course
The California Dental Board has required the following NEW CE course: Schedule II Narcotic Prescribing Responsibilities and Regulations that addresses the opioid prescribing crisis and the role of dental professionals in lessening its burden on patients and the nation. This course must be individually approved for license renewal by the California Dental Board. Dental Didactics' CE course Schedule II Prescribing has received this approval and is available for immediate download to meet the state licensing renewal requirement.
The Updated California Dental Practice Act Course
Additionally, the California Dental Board has mandated that the California Dental Practice Act CE course (required for dental license renewal) now include a specific section on professional ethics. Dental Didactics has fully updated this course and California Dental Practice Act with Ethics is available for immediate download.
Additional California CE Requirements
The Dental Board of California also requires the Dental Infection Control course during each 2-year license renewal period.
Employee CE Requirements
Dental employers in California are also required to document that all members of their clinical staff take the following 2 courses each and every year:
OSHA Dental Review which addresses bloodborne and airborne infectious hazards in the dental environment, as well as HIPAA Basics which addresses patient information confidentiality.
