Texas Dental Board Continuing Education Requirements
Posted by Dental Didactics CE, AGD National PACE Provider (approved for Texas) on Aug 12th 2024
Texas Dental Board CE Requirements:
The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) mandates that licensed dentists and dental hygienists complete continuing education (CE) requirements to maintain their licenses. Dentists must complete 24 hours of CE every year, while dental hygienists are required to complete 12 hours. Of these, at least half of the hours must be clinical or technical, directly related to patient care. Additionally, all licensees must complete a minimum of 2 hours in ethics or professional responsibility.
Approved CE Providers:
Courses must be provided by TSBDE-approved sponsors, including accredited dental schools, recognized dental organizations, and other approved providers such as the AGD National PACE Provider Program. Online courses are acceptable, but no more than half of the required hours can be obtained this way. Documentation of completed CE must be retained for four years and may be subject to audit by the TSBDE. Failing to meet these requirements can result in penalties, including fines or suspension of the dental license.
